Direct resin has become one of the restorative materials of choice in both general and high-end esthetic practices. The explosion of demand by patients for esthetic dental services has led to an array of new dental products and treatments for practitioners to choose from. A new generation of composite resins can be utilized with a simplified protocol to create amazing anterior and posterior restorations that rival the beauty and strength of porcelain. This presentation will provide clinicians with an arsenal of practical techniques to predictably restore anterior and posterior direct composites with efficiency, predictability and esthetics. Subjects discussed will include a wide range of direct resin uses, including predictable shade selection, simplified preparations, natural layering, multiple contact predictability and efficient finishing and polishing. Procedures reviewed will also include preventing post-operative sensitivity, flowable resin use, mixed media cases, indirect restoration blockout, provisionalization, mockups, repairs/renewals, photography, and advanced aesthetics. For those just starting to place direct resins to clinicians seeking advanced European artistry, valuable and practical direct resin pearls and composite gems gleaned from across the globe will be shared with attendees. Come discover new avenues to market your practice, attract an untapped cosmetic patient base and jump start your practice Monday morning!

Often referred to by his colleagues as “the Michelangelo of dentistry,” Dr. Michael Morgan is equal parts artist,
pioneer, and guide. After dental school, Dr. Morgan embraced the challenging field of direct composite restorations and aesthetic dentistry. While studying in Europe under the tutelage of the world’s most skilled dental artists, Dr. Morgan began developing the comprehensive, cutting-edge philosophy that guides his work today.

Dr. Morgan graduated from the University of Illinois School of Dentistry in Chicago. He then studied the art of cosmetic dentistry at the University of Geneva, Switzerland with some of the world’s most talented dental artists. He is a published author and international lecturer on cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, and anxiety-free dentistry. He is the only dentist in the state of Illinois to have taught at both the University of the Pacific in San Francisco – Pacific Aesthetic Continuum (PAC~Live) and the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies – two of the most prestigious training institutes in the world.

In his thriving practice in Hinsdale, Illinois, Dr. Morgan synthesizes the venerable tradition of conservative dentistry, innovative materials,
advanced techniques, and digital photography to establish doctor-patient partnerships that achieve life-altering aesthetic goals.
