Class of 2029 Begins RSDM Journey
With energy, ambition, and a shared passion for oral health, the Class of 2029 has officially begun its journey at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM).
“This class represents the highest academic caliber we have seen to date,” said Associate Dean for Admissions Rosa Chaviano-Moran ’86. “They were selected from an incredibly competitive pool of applicants, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to our community.”
For the 2024-2025 admissions cycle, the traditional DMD program received 4,127 applications for just 96 seats—marking a 12 percent increase from the previous year. The Internationally Educated DMD program, designed for dentists trained abroad, saw a 24 percent surge in applications, underscoring RSDM’s global reputation. This specialized 29-month program blends intensive didactic instruction with hands-on clinical experience, preparing internationally educated dentists to thrive in the US health care system.
In addition to the incoming DMD students, 29 postgraduate residents will begin the advanced dental education programs across various specialties, including pediatric dentistry, endodontics, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, further enriching their academic and clinical skills at RSDM.
“Our programs continue to attract exceptional students from across the country and around the world, who bring with them their unique experiences and perspectives into our school and dentistry,” said Chaviano-Moran. “They are not only academically gifted—they are driven by a deep desire to serve and lead.”
